The Canada Express Entry system is a favored route for acquiring permanent residence. Regular draws by the IRCC select skilled immigrants from a candidate pool to become Canadian permanent residents. Express Entry Immigration Programs
To enter the Express Entry pool, candidates must meet the criteria for one of these immigration programs:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP): For skilled workers with foreign work experience who want to immigrate to Canada permanently.
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP): Geared towards skilled tradespeople with work experience in specific occupations who wish to become permanent residents.
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC): Designed for individuals with Canadian work experience who wish to transition to permanent residency.
- Some Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) are aligned with Express Entry. Obtaining a provincial nomination and adding it to the Express Entry profile can significantly enhance the candidate's points.
Express Entry Immigration Programs: FSWP
Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
Eligibility:
To apply for FSWP, applicants must meet these criteria:
- Work Experience: Have at least 1 year of continuous full-time skilled employment in the last 10 years (or part-time equivalent).
- Language Proficiency: Score a minimum of 7 levels on an approved English or French language proficiency test.
- Education: Hold a Canadian high school diploma or a foreign equivalent.
- Financial Resources: Have enough financial resources to support yourself and your family.
- Residency Intention: Intend to live outside the province of Quebec.
Applicants are selected based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) in Express Entry. They must score a minimum of 67 points out of 100 in the points grid.
Permanent Residency Process for FSWP:
- Expression of Interest: Create an Express Entry profile to express your interest in applying for permanent residency.
- Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS): The Express Entry system assesses your application using CRS.
- Required Documents:
- Educational Credentials Assessment (ECA): Validates foreign education by Canadian standards.
- Language Proficiency Test Results: Proof of language proficiency (e.g., IELTS for English).
- Identification Documents: Required for identification purposes.
4. Valid Passport: Applicants must possess a valid passport.
Express Entry Immigration Programs: FSTP
Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
Eligibility:
To be eligible for the FSTP, you must:
- Work Experience: Have at least 2 years of full-time work experience in a skilled trade obtained in the past 5 years, with certification to practice the trade in Canada.
- Occupational Categories: Skilled trades include industrial, electrical, construction, maintenance, equipment operation, natural resources, agriculture, production, processing, manufacturing, utility supervision, and culinary occupations.
- Additional Requirements:
- Employment connection in Canada.
- Full-time work experience of at least 1 year or a qualification certificate in your skilled trade from a Canadian provincial or territorial authority.
- Score a minimum of level 4 in English or French language proficiency.
- Intend to live outside the province of Quebec.
Process for Permanent Residency through FSTP:
- Express Entry System: Managed by the Express Entry system, you submit an expression of interest and aim for the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.
- CRS Score Determination: The CRS score for FSTP candidates considers skills, work experience, language proficiency, and other factors.
- Educational Proof Not Required: Unlike other categories, FSTP candidates are not required to prove their level of education for the Express Entry profile.
Express Entry Immigration Programs: CEC
Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Eligibility:
To qualify for the Canadian Experience Class, you must:
- Work Experience: Have at least 1 year of full-time skilled work experience in Canada within the last 3 years before applying.
- Occupation Level: Work in an occupation under NOC skill level 0 or A.
- Remuneration: Receive remuneration for your job; work experience gained during full-time study programs doesn't count.
- Language Proficiency: Attain at least level 7 on an approved language proficiency test in English or French.
- Intent to Reside: Intend to move and live outside of Quebec in another province or territory.
- Admissibility Requirements: Clear the admissibility requirements for immigration to Canada.
Additional Info:
- International Students: If you are an international student with a post-graduate work permit, you can apply for the CEC after gaining 1 year of skilled work experience. The post-graduate work permit allows you to work anywhere in Canada for any employer.
- Path to Permanent Residency: Acquiring work experience in a skilled, professional, or technical field through CEC makes you eligible for permanent residency in Canada through the Express
