Also commonly known as a visitor visa, the TRV is typically required for citizens of countries that are not visa-exempt and who wish to visit Canada for tourism, business, or other temporary purposes.

A business visa for Canada typically falls under the category of a Visitor Visa or Temporary Resident Visa (TRV). This visa allows individuals to enter Canada for business-related activities, such as meetings, conferences, or exploring business opportunities.

For parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents, there is a Super Visa option. It allows multiple entries for up to two years at a time and is valid for up to 5 years. Super Visa holders can stay in Canada for up to two years without renewing their status

Application Process
To apply for a TRV, you will need to complete the appropriate application forms, provide supporting documents such as a valid passport, proof of financial support, and a letter of invitation (if applicable) and pay the required fees.
Processing Time
The processing time for a TRV application can vary depending on several factors, including your country of residence and the volume of applications being processed. It is advisable to apply well in advance of your intended travel date.

Duration of Stay
If your TRV application is approved, you will be issued a visitor visa that specifies the duration of your authorized stay in Canada. Typically, visitors are granted a stay of up to six months. The immigration officer at the port of entry may have the authority to determine the length of stay based on the purpose of your visit and other important factors.
Extensions and Change of Status
If you are already in Canada with a TRV and wish to extend your stay or change your status (e.g., from visitor to student or worker), you will need to apply for the appropriate permits or visa before your current authorized stay expires.

Lack of Ties to Your Country of Residence:
The reviewing officer may refuse a visa if they believe that the applicant doesn't have sufficient connections or ties to their home country, making it unlikely for them to return after their authorized stay.
Existing Family Ties to Canada:
If there are existing family ties in Canada, the officer might be concerned that the applicant may not leave the country at the end of their authorized stay.
Suspicious Purpose of Visit to Canada:
If the officer suspects that the purpose of the visit to Canada is not genuine or raises concerns, it can lead to a visa refusal.
Poor Previous Immigration History:
A history of issues with previous immigration applications or violations of immigration laws may contribute to a refusal.
Inability to Satisfy the Reviewing Officer About Departure:
If the reviewing officer is not convinced that the applicant will leave Canada after their authorized stay, it could result in a refusal.
Business Visitor or Work Permit? Find out!
Business visitors are individuals staying in Canada for a brief period, such as a few days or weeks, to attend meetings or events, with a maximum stay of up to 6 months.
To meet the criteria for a business visitor in Canada, you must demonstrate:
- Your intention to stay for less than 6 months.
- No plans to enter the Canadian labor market.
- Your primary place of business, source of income, and profits are outside Canada.
- Possession of supporting documents for your application.
- Compliance with Canada's basic entry requirements, including having a valid travel document, sufficient funds for your stay and return, a plan to leave Canada after your visit, and being free from criminal, security, or health concerns that could pose risks to Canadians.
Activities You Are Permitted To Do As A Business Visitor
As a business visitor, you are permitted to engage in various activities, including:
- Purchasing Canadian goods or services on behalf of a foreign business or government.
- Accepting orders for goods or services.
- Attending meetings, conferences, conventions, or trade fairs.
- Providing after-sales service as outlined in a warranty or sales agreement.
- Receiving training from a Canadian parent company while employed by the same company outside Canada.
- Training employees of a Canadian branch of a foreign company.
- Receiving training from a Canadian company from which you have purchased equipment or services.
Super Visa: Eligibility
To qualify for a super visa, you must have a host who:
- Is your child or grandchild.
- Is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or a registered Indian, and must provide relevant documentation.
- Is at least 18 years old and resides in Canada.
- Meets or exceeds the minimum necessary income requirements.
- Signs an invitation letter including a promise of financial support during your visit. The host's spouse or common-law partner can co-sign if they are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Includes the list and details of individuals (name and date of birth) when calculating family size to determine the minimum necessary income.
In addition, you must:
- Be outside Canada when submitting the super visa application.
- Have the visa printed by a visa office outside Canada as per their instructions.
- Be allowed to enter Canada.
- Undergo an immigration medical exam.
- Fulfill other specified conditions.
You cannot include dependants in this application.
Health Insurance Requirements
You must provide proof of a health insurance policy from either:
- A Canadian insurance company.
- An international insurance company approved by the Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship.
The health insurance policy should:
- Be valid for a minimum of 1 year from the date of entry.
- Be paid in full or in instalments with a deposit (quotes aren’t accepted).
- Cover health care, hospitalization, and repatriation.
- Provide a minimum of $100,000 of emergency coverage.
Super visa holders should maintain valid health insurance throughout their stay in Canada and be ready to show proof of paid insurance to a border services officer upon entry.
