3. Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP)

Applicants are eligible for only one Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) in their lifetime. To qualify, they must hold valid temporary status or have left Canada. Graduates from eligible designated learning institutions (DLIs) can apply, submitting clear evidence that they meet the following criteria:

1. Completion of an academic, vocational, or professional training program in Canada, lasting at least 8 months and leading to a degree, diploma, or certificate.
2. Maintenance of full-time student status in Canada during each academic session of the completed program, with exceptions for leave from studies or the final academic session.
3. Receipt of a transcript and an official letter from the eligible DLI, confirming fulfillment of program requirements

1. Public post-secondary institutions: colleges, trade or technical schools, universities, and CEGEPs (in Quebec).
2. Private post-secondary institutions in Quebec operating under the same regulations as public institutions.
3. Private secondary or post-secondary institutions in Quebec offering qualifying programs of 900 hours or longer leading to a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) or an Attestation of Vocational Specialization (AVS).
4. Canadian private institutions authorized by provincial statute to confer degrees, such as associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degrees. Note that eligibility depends on enrollment in a degree program authorized by the province.

Program Duration Less than 8 Months:

• Not eligible for a PGWP.

Program Duration Between 8 Months and 2 Years:

• The PGWP is typically issued for the same length as the completed program.

Program Duration 2 Years or More:

• A PGWP may be issued for up to 3 years.

PGWP duration is determined based on the length of the completed program, and applicants can receive only one PGWP in their lifetime.
